In the last year, I found myself on trial in the courtroom of public opinion. It all started when Republican voters suddenly became prosecutors on social media. Charging me, and many others for with being fake christians. Just because for democrats in the last election. In their eyes, we were all guilty of evil. During this trial, I asked the question "How does my vote make me less christian than you". As expected, this question sparked outrage in the court room. The prosecutors proceeded to object. Once order was established, I ask them "Did you vote for Jesus Christ". More objections followed soon after. " Unless you voted for Jesus, you have no business condemning anybody" I replied.
To the prosecutors, this sounded like Anti Christ rhetoric. Once upon a time, I believed the same. But over the years, I learned that the political structure, prohibits promoting the christian agenda. Therefore, Jesus would never be on the ballot of an election, nor would he win any election. It doesn’t matter if he ran as a republican, or a democrat. The 1st amendment would restrict him from doing everything that he did when he was here. It was designed to prevent people like him from influencing the government. Furthermore, it was also designed to make all religions equal.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Simply put, the structure prohibits america from becoming a christian nation. It will always be a nation full of people who have different religious belief’s. They have the freedom to follow, believe, and express the religion they want. As a Christian, I’d love to say otherwise, but this is in alignment with scripture. The freedom the amendment speaks of, is also given by God. He does not force people to choose him. They have a right to choose according to Joshua 24:15
But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then CHOOSE for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”
In conclusion, these facts indicate you're just voting for another job every election. You're not voting for a pastor, evangelist, prophet, rabbi, monk, or any other religious leader. You're voting for someone who has to serve citizens. That includes those who have different religious belief’s. That means they’d have to separate from their religious beliefs to do the job. All points considered, this is why voting for either side won't make you more, or less of a christian. But the fruit you bear outside of the booth does. Your character, integrity, and how you treat people does. You can promote Jesus Christ, by practicing his teachings in your life.
