Anyone that knows me, will tell you I'm a die hard christian. With my whole chest, I boldly confess that Jesus is King. Biblical standards are my lifeline. It's a goal to live by them in every day life. But recently, I've repeatedly found my Christianity on trial, and it's time to set the record straight once and for all.
In many political discussions on social media, republican voters have repeatedly told me
I wasn’t Christian enough. All because I voted democrat for Kamala Harris. The accusations have baffled me to say the least. In fact, they've been an insult to my intelligence. In the heat of these discussions, I often found myself asking them " Why does my vote, make me less christian than you". Only to end up in a back and forth exchange. So I decided to do some research to offer more clarity to the ongoing debate.
Through this journey of discovery, I was directed to the 1st amendment via congress.gov
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Simply put, this was created to separate government from religion. As a christian, I can somewhat understand why this will bother those like me. But the citizen's point of view
holds more weight in this discussion. In a perfect christian world, our government will legislate biblical standards for all citizens. That will be like heaven on earth. Until, non-christian’s request the same treatment. That's where their perspective holds more weight. Because they pay their dues, and are productive members of society just like me and other christians. Therefore, they'd have a right to request fair treatment. If one religion's rules are legislated, they'd have a right to request for their's to be legislated. That is only fair.
I strongly believe, that these points were considered when this amendment was discussed. To be fair, they decided to create this separation. Many Christians reading this would disagree with this amendment, But it actually gives people the freedom to choose. That freedom is in alignment with scripture (Joshua 24:15)
But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then CHOOSE for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”
Simply put, God gives us a choice to follow, practice, and promote christianity. By law, the government operates the same way. It gives you total freedom to choose christianity, or any other religion. Amendment one prohibits it from forcing. legislating, endorsing, or promoting any one of them. All of these points conclude, that politics and christianity are two different movements, with different missions. Therefore, they will never be able to coexist. Because the everyday politicians job, is to lawfully support the citizens they work for. That includes those who disagree with their views on life. So there's a strong possibility, they'd have to fight for something they don't believe in. That is what they signed up for.
In contrast, Christianity's agenda, is to draw people to christ. Every christian follower should strive to promote christ through how they live. They should strive to preach the gospel through what they say, and what they do. But that is an individual decision. In your everyday life, you still have to seprate that from most jobs you work on. If you are not working for a christian employer, you are subject to their rules and regulations. That would mean, you'd have to do you job without religious influence. Like any other job, a politician has to do the same. If they make their relgion apart of their job duities, voters will likely oppose them at the polls. Their right to do so proves, we have anti christ decision makers in this country. They are apart of the voter population, and they are apart of every political party. Therefore, they will have some impact on decisions.
In conclusion, these facts indicate you're just voting for another job every election. You're not voting for a pastor, evangelist, prophet, rabbi, monk, or any other religious leader. You're voting for someone who has to serve the citizens. They have to separate from their religious beliefs to do so. All points considered, this is why voting for either side won't make you more, or less of a christian. But the fruit you bear, your character, integrity, and how you treat people does. You can promote Jesus Christ, by practicing his teachings in your life. If you want to help people who are losing, let your life tell the world, that "Jesus is the soulution".
