Over the last several months, I’ve seen surge of a strange condition. It came as a mystery to me early on. I'd say that It's something I never saw before, but I've seen the symptoms over my lifetime. But during this surge, I've been trying to find out what it's called. To my surprise, there's no name to define it. But after examining those who suffer, I've determined that "Immigrant Derangement Syndrome" is suitable. A condition that consists of unprovoked,
unjustified, hatred toward immigrants. It's unfortunately trending right now.
From a humanitarian standpoint, it's really tough to see the hateful rhetoric, the stereotyping, and what I call "Immigrant Hunting" on the streets of this country. To make matters worst, I see many people agreeing with this disgusting behavior. During various debates about this topic, I listened in disbelief to them express their support for this treatment. Not because of their own experience, but because a politician told them how to think. They never took the time to talk to an immigrant, or consider their value to this country for themselves. Like many others, I am not opposed to deportation if necessary. But I am opposed to how it's being done. These are human lives that don't deserve this kind of treatment. Especially when they are more valuable to this country , than this administration portrays them to be.
They deserve their flowers, and I am here to give them what they deserve. Especially at a time like this. Because over my lifetime, I've seen nothing but productive immigrants. Most if not all of them, came from, and traveled through rough conditions to be here. They came, and took nothing for granted. I was fortunate to work with one on my old job a few years ago. He's a citizen now, but came from Africa illegally. Although I don't condone that, what he did to get here was admirable. While on break one day, he told about journey to this country . He found out a cargo ship was headed to America from Africa, so he snuck on. For one month, he hid at the bottom of the ship in conditions no human being should ever be in. No food, and one bottle of water he snuck on the ship. He said he took small sips of the water to during transport to stay hydrated. He went from a month of survival, to an American arrival. Needless to say, he was happy to be here. So much so, he took whatever job he could find.
After he became a citizen, he kept the same work ethic, and passion that got him here. By the time we worked together, he was a legal citizen. When he started off working with me, he was the best worker at that position. Every shift, he delivered quality results. His impact stood out above the other workers who had his position. After one year, he was promoted to a full time job in another department. I saw him recently, and he's still happy, appreciative, and has the same work ethic. He is one of many immigrants, who have a similar journey. Like those who built boats with what they have to get here. Knowing they can lose their lives, they used them to travel the rough ocean seas. Just to have a better life. Thus proving they are not who this administration says they are.
This administration claims that immigrants are threats to society. But according to studies, American born citizens are a bigger threat. In fact, they commit more crime than immigrants.
This administration claims immigrants want a handout. But their willingness to work hard debunks that. In fact, They're probably more reliable employees than alot of American citizens.
This administration claims they are taking jobs. There's some truth to that. But the missing part of that claim is, they're taking jobs that most Americans don't want. Therefore, they are actually filling a much needed void in the workforce.
In conclusion, the people who willingly ignore this part of the conversation, are exemplifying the symptoms of 'Immigrant Derangement Syndrome". They have unjustified fear, and anger for immigrants, because someone told them how to feel. Not considering the positive impact they've made this country. Because of their contribution to the success, they deserve more respect. They should be celebrated, instead of hated for what they've done to make the country what it is. Because at some point during our busy day, we’re likely going to stand in, or stand on the result of their labor. We'll likely marvel at the appearance from their labor. We're likely going to eat, or may be eating the fruits from their labor. Thus proving that, they contribute to bringing some sort of happiness to our lives daily. Therefore, they are not a threat to america, they are an asset to america. Because history has proven that they've helped make the country great. Therefore, it won’t be great without them.
