‼️SOCIAL INJUSTICE ‼️ | TIK TOK FINALLY GOES DARK 😳| HERE'S WHY IT'S A GOOD THING

I’ve been battling an addiction for a while now. One I thought, I’d never experience. I always told myself “ That’ll never be me”. Now here I am trapped, fighting to be free. Thought’s of regret consume me daily. The condemnation that comes with failing consumes my mind every day. I wish this never happened. But as I sit in these walls, I consider other patients like myself. Imprisoned by their choices because they engaged in this behavior. Looking for an outlet, when they really need a savior, I find myself amongst them in a cycle of disappointment. But I confess this hoping it will strengthen others to “Just Say No”.

This was me the last several months of 2024 and 2025. Addicted to the popular social media platform “Tik Tok”. Sometimes, It felt like a digital prison cell. My spirit was willing, but my flesh was weak. Constantly picking up my phone morning, noon and night. As bad as it seemed, I had enough strength and wisdom to observe the pattern of destruction. I became more and more concerned about my usage. It was a never ending cycle of scrolling through content. Needless to say, It was a pattern that truly baffled me. Because prior to 2024, social media platforms were a thing of the past in my life. I broke up with Facebook, and Instagram with no desire to return But in 2024, I built new platforms for business purposes. Thankfully, that was short lived. Facebook, instagram, and twitter didn't allure me anymore. Life without them was a reality that I gladly celebrated. But tik tok crashed the party. It was one platform I couldn't stop using. In 2024, I asked myself daily “ How did I get here”. During the election cycle, my usage took a turn for the worst. I realized the addiction nearly went to the point of no return. It was an ongoing battle. I was in a daily cycle of deactivating and reactivating my account. I went from doing it once a week, to multiple times per week. The struggle to walk away became harder and harder. But after numerous failed attempts, I saw a sign of hope on the horizon. A bipartisan Tik Tok ban bill was proposed by lawmakers, and passed in 2024.

From the moment it was proposed and signed, I celebrated the incoming future. This bill was a solution to an ongoing problem in my life. A much needed boost. I strongly believe that this bill was a gift from God. Because while I struggled with this addiction, I realized that I’m not alone. I discovered a community of people suffering from the same digital addiction like myself. But sadly, many of them were not aware. Like most addicts, they were oblivious to their behavior. As I suffered my addiction, they were right there by my side enabling me. No matter what time of day I engage, I’d see the same addicts on my page. Entrapped by confusion, drama, and clout. The toxicity was hard to ignore, I kept saying I wanted out. As the TIK TOK ban became a reality, I saw these addicts losing their minds. Frantic about a platform, that repeatedly consumed their time. Content creators who made a living for themselves were frustrated. Although I understand their concerns, they were not enough to make me disagree with the tik tok ban. Because I strongly believe, the trend of detrimental behavior on social media justifies the need it. Users are so obsessed, they’re putting their self respect, their livelihood, and security on the line for posts, clicks and likes.

The world can’t go on with this kind of behavior.

The existence of these platforms bring more trouble to the world and our lives than it's worth. They have proven to entice people to be socially irresponsible. They have equally proven to be a huge source for information, but also a huge source for misinformation. In fact, misinformation on these platforms are becoming more and more of a concern. They have proven to help build up, but they also help break down. We desperately need a savior from the toxic environment that it produces in the world. Therefore, the tik tok ban is a great place to start. I hope users choose to ban the other platforms out of their lives as well. Because I believe this is a great opportunity for a new beginning. I understand that may be hard for some of you to grasp. But embrace the positive outcomes of this. This ban is an amazing opportunity to keep toxicity out of your life. Let it motivate you to enjoy the simple things in life again. Let it motivate you to buy a new photo album to collect memories instead of posting them to the world. Let it motivate you to keep your political views and convictions private like they use to be. Let it motivate you to keep total strangers out of your business. These are the simple things that social media has taken away from our lives. Embrace the opportunity to get them back.
