A STORM IN MY LIFE BLESSED ME WITH MORE THAN I CAN IMAGINE |EN-SPIRATION
Updated: Mar 8
When I was 9 years old, One of the worst hurricanes in history (Hurricane Andrew) touched down here in South Florida. The storm destroyed the city of Homestead, fl, stripping structures from their foundations causing billions of dollars in damages. Residents in the city lost everything. The media highlighted so much negativity after the storm, I could never unsee the images of destruction and chaos whenever I saw or heard the word homestead.
I knew people survived the storm. I knew the city was still standing. But I grew up almost an hour away in another world. So I spent most of my life linking homestead to a catastrophic event. The image of destruction was imprinted on my mind. But after years of always linking the region to a deadly destructive storm, I met one amazing family that survived the storm. Upon meeting and experiencing a season with them. I started to link the region to one of the greatest blessings in my life. The experience taught me a valuable lesson about perception.
When something happens, satan always highlights the negative things to make you perceive the situation a certain way. Those negative things began to paint a picture you can't unsee until the eyes of your heart are opened by God. The perception of christ reminds you that blessings are always around you. A positive is always present when a negative is present. While we experience rain, the sun is still a star shining above it all. When you start stressing, stop and ask God to open the eyes of your heart so you can start to see the blessings that satan is trying to hide from you. No matter what you're going through in your life, Those blessings are still there to encourage and uplift you. Don't ever let them out of your sight. ]
